The queue keeps your waiting room organised. Patients join it automatically when you start their consultation, your team calls them to a room when it's their turn, and the public Queue Display screen shows patients where to go.
How patients join the queue
You never add patients to the queue by hand, and you never set a queue status yourself. When you start a consultation for a patient, EazyClinic automatically adds them to that branch's queue as Waiting. From there the status changes on its own as you work through the visit. See the Consultations guide.
Queue statuses and priority
You don't set these directly — they update automatically as you call, skip, and take payment:
| Status | Meaning | Happens when |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting | In the queue, not yet called. | You start the consultation. |
| Called | Called to a room — shown under "Now Serving" on the display. | You use Call to Room. |
| Completed | The visit is finished; the patient leaves the active queue. | The patient's bill is marked Paid. |
| Skipped | Taken out of the active queue. | You use Skip Queue. |
Each entry also has a priority — Normal or Urgent. Marking someone urgent moves them up the queue so they're seen sooner.
A typical flow
- Reception starts a consultation for Ali — he joins the queue as Waiting and appears on the waiting-room display.
- When a room is free, a doctor or nurse clicks Call to Room and picks, say, Consultation Room 1 — Ali moves to Called and shows under "Now Serving" with his queue number and room.
- The doctor sees Ali, then calls the next patient. Later Ali can be called again to a different room — for example the Treatment Room, then the Dispensary or Checkout — at each step of his visit.
- Once Ali pays and his bill is Paid, he's marked Completed and drops off the active queue.
If Ali steps out before he's seen, Skip Queue takes him out of the line; mark him Urgent if he needs to be seen sooner.
Calling patients to a room
Call to Room is available wherever you're working, so a doctor doesn't have to go hunting for the patient:
- From the Consultations list — open the actions menu (⋯) next to the patient and choose Call to Room.
- From the consultation screen itself — the Call to Room button is right there, so a doctor can call the next patient without leaving the consult.
- From the checkout screen — handy for calling the patient over to collect medicine or pay.
When you call a patient, you choose which room they should go to. Rooms are whatever you set up for your clinic in Settings → Rooms — for example Consultation Room 1, Treatment Room, Dispensary, or Checkout. You can call the same patient to different rooms at different points in their visit, and their queue number and room name update on the Queue Display each time.
Other queue actions
From the same actions menu you can also:
- Mark as Urgent / Remove Urgency — change a waiting patient's priority.
- Skip Queue — take a patient out of the active queue (for example, if they've stepped out).
The Queue Display screen
Queue Display is a full-screen page designed for a TV or monitor in your waiting area. It shows:
- Now Serving — the patients currently being called, each with their queue number and room name. Newly called numbers blink briefly to catch attention.
- Waiting — the patients still in line, by queue number.
You can optionally set a YouTube video to play on the display alongside the queue — useful for health tips or clinic information while patients wait.
Open Queue Display on the screen in your waiting room and leave it running; it updates on its own as your team calls and serves patients.
